In A Company of Heroes

I watched the first 2 episodes of Steven Spielberg and Tom Hank’s miniseries “Band of Brothers” last sunday and I fell in love, instantly, with Major Richard Winters (played by British Damien Lewis) and the storyline.

This Miss Google-manic found the following interview segment of the miniseries on Wikipedia and now, she knows why she admires Major Winter: -

“Despite the many accolades he has received, Winters has remained humble about his service. During the interview session of “Band of Brothers”, Winters quoted a passage from a letter he received from Sergeant Mike Ranney: -

“I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day when he said, “Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?” Grandpa said “No… but I served in a company of heroes…

That’s priceless…

p.s. Indeed, there will be times when the world will ask the ordinary men to do extraordinary things...
